Can I show the messages in other languages?
Yes. Messages show in your shopper's store language. We include default text in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch, and you can write your own for each published language.
Steps
- Open the app and go to Appearance & languages.
- Under Store-wide text, you'll see a set of fields for every language published in your store.
- Each empty field shows our default text in grey. Leave it empty to use that text, or type your own.
- For languages other than the six above, the grey text is English, so write your own.
- Use Preview on the right to check each language.
- Click Save.
To change the text for one closure only, open the closure and use Text for this closure.
Which text shows?
For each message and language, we use the first of these that exists:
- The closure's own text for that language (Text for this closure).
- Your store-wide text for that language (Appearance & languages).
- Our default text for that language.
- English.
If your text uses {dispatch_date} or {reopen_date} and the closure has no such date, we use our default wording without a date instead.
Good to know
- Dates are written in the shopper's language and in your store country's style, for example "3 January" for a UK store or "January 3" for a US store.
- Only published languages appear. To add a language, publish it in Shopify first (Settings → Languages).
- Keep the
{dispatch_date}and{reopen_date}placeholders in your text so the dates fill in. - The text added to shipping names at checkout is ours and can't be changed. It's translated into the six languages above.
